Aims and Scope
Argumentation. Interpretation. Rhetoric is an international
and interdisciplinary journal founded by the University of Amsterdam
and St Petersburg State University to address philosophical and
linguistic problems of rhetoric and argumentative discourse.
This electronic journal is the first and so far the only one in Russia
dealing with problems of argumentation theory, rhetoric and communication
processes.
The aims of the journal are the following:
- To contribute to establishing and developing scholarly contacts
between academics of various countries doing research in humanities
relating to the research area of the journal;
- To stimulate interdisciplinary research in classical and modern
rhetoric, argumentation theory, informal logic and speech
communication;
- To promote the creation of an international center of
interdisciplinary research in speech communication at St Petersburg
State University and the University of Amsterdam;
- To constitute a laboratory for the development of ideas to be
discussed by the international community of scholars.
The journal is going to publish papers containing philosophical,
linguistic, logical, and rhetorical analyses of natural language
and communicative experience mainly from the point of view of
argumentation structure and solid proof involving rational forms,
socio-pragmatic and cognitive aspects of communication.
The languages of the journal are Russian and English.
The publication of this journal has been made possible due to help of
the International Center for the Study of Argumentation (SIC SAT).
We would like to thank all those who have encouraged and supported
our effort.
The editors invite all interested scholars to contribute to our further
publications.
